Metal Poly ButtonStep-by-Step Instructions: 1. Open a New Document in Photoshop. A good working space will be 500x500 width/height. 2. Create a new layer. Name it "Border". 3. Make sure that "black" is your foreground color. 4. Select the Rounded Rectangle Tool. Make sure that "Fill Pixels" option is checked. Set the Radius to "35". 5. Create a rounded rectangular shape for your button. ![]() 6. Right click the "Border" layer. Choose "Blending Options" from the pop-up list. 7. Set the properties for "Inner Glow" to the following: ![]() 8. Set the properties for "Bevel and Emboss" to the following: ![]() 9. Set the properties for "Contour" to the following: ![]() 10. Set the properties for "Gradient Overlay" to the following: ![]() 11. Set the properties for "Stroke" to the following: (Color Hex #DEDEDE) ![]() 12. Click OK to close out and return to image. ![]() 13. Select the Polygonal Lasso Tool. Create a selection over the button like in the following image: ![]() 14. Click the DELETE key the selected area from the button. 15. Goto Select > Modify > Contract. Contract by "1" pixel. ![]() 16. Create a new layer. Name it "Interior". 17. Select the Paint Bucket Tool. Fill in the button with "red". (Color Hex #FF0000). ![]() 18. Click Ctrl+D to deselect. 19. Right click the "Interior" layer. Choose "Blending Options" from the pop-up list. 20. Set the properties for "Bevel and Emboss" to the following: ![]() 21. Create a new layer. Name it "Highlight". 22. Select the Polygonal Lasso Tool. Create a selection over the interior area like in the following image: ![]() 23. Goto Select > Feather. Set the Feather Radius to "5". 24. Select the Paint Bucket Tool. Fill in the selection with white. (Color Hex #000000). 25. Click Ctrl+D to deselect. ![]() 26. Click Ctrl+T to enter Free Transform Mode. Use the top and bottom shape handles to resize the highlight appropriately over the upper portion of the button.
![]() 27. Finally, change the opacity of the highlight layer from the layer's palette until your highlight is at the desired level of brightness. ![]() |
