Bloated Text Spheres



Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Open a New Document in Photoshop. Good working space will be 500x500 width/height.
2. Create a new layer. Name it "Sphere".
3. Select the Eliptical Marquee tool.
4. Hold down the SHIFT key and drag to create a perfect circle selection.



5. Select the Gradient tool.
6. Set the gradient from white to black.



7. Drag from the top left corner to the bottom right corner of the circle selection.



8. Select the Type tool. Type the word for your button.



9. Right click the Type layer. Choose "Blending Options" from the pop-up list.
10. Set the properties for "Drop Shadow" to the following:



10. Set the properties for "Bevel and Emboss" to the following:



11. Set the properties for "Contour" to the following:



12. Click OK to accept the changes.



13. Type layer should still be active. Goto Layer > Type > Warp Text.
14. Set the properties to the following:



15. Click OK and you'll have your bloated text sphere button!



(Note: For the sake of explaining this tutorial, the image was created in generic black and white. However, you can add colors to the button, by selecting the "Sphere" layer and going to Image > Adjustments > Color Balance. Then move the sliders until you get the color that you want. Also, after the final Step 15 of this tutorial, the text is still selectable, so you can easily change the color of the text as well. Below is an example of changing the colors.)
